A Way Home Peterborough (AWHP) is a collaborative of community agencies and citizens with the aim of preventing and reducing youth homelessness in Peterborough.

We are strategizing to increase early identification of youth at risk of homelessness; enhance education and supports for youth and their families, improve the system of care to minimize discharges into homelessness, and foster more housing options.

A Way Home is dedicated to preventing and ending youth homelessness in Canada.

Our goal is to inspire and enable communities and all levels of government to organize, plan and implement strategies to address youth homelessness in a coordinated, measurable and impactful way.

What We Know

What We Know About Youth Homelessness

A Way Home Canada convened with community members and A Way Home Peterborough staff to carry out a system mapping exercise in Nogojiwanong/Peterborough. The goal of the systems mapping was to gain a better understanding of youth homelessness in Nogojiwanong/Peterborough, and develop a list of recommendations on way of addressing youth homelessness while engaging with the community.

The collaborative efforts resulted in the A Way Home Peterborough Report.

How We’re Moving Forward!

Our Work

Part of A Way Home Peterborough’s dedication to reducing and preventing youth homelessness is to create programs and initiatives to meet the needs of youth in Nogojiwanong/Peterborough. We believe engaging in community specific research combined with best-practices in reducing youth homelessnes will allow us, as a collaborative, to work together in ensuring we meet the needs of the youth in our community while keeping their voices central in our work.
