Innovation Funding launches Host Homes Initiative

On May 18th A Way Home Peterborough (AWHP) was delighted to announced the new Innovation Funding from United Way Peterborough awarded to the YES Shelter for Youth and Families that will be the catalyst in launching A Way Home Peterborough’s Host Home project!

In recognition of this exciting endeavor, Elisa Traficante from Raising the Roof joined us and shared the work they have been doing with the Host Homes models they have chosen. The goal of the Host Homes project is to increase our focus on prevention methods to address youth homelessness through shelter diversion [Click here to read more on shelter diversion].

Raising the Roof is working with other communities in Ontario the have recognized the need for Host Home Programs; the 360 Night Stop, Richmond Hill   & Bridging the Gap, Halton.

We are excited to put together a Host Homes model that fits the need of youth in the Nogojiwanong/Peterborough community and County and create something that we can all be proud of!
